Elly Wong: Trip to France Part I

On 31st January 2009, me and my batch of college mates went on our trip to France .. It is part of our course trip .. So half study trip half holiday la .. There are around a hundred of us .. Our batch quite big that's why and only 3 lecturers following us .. So these 3 lecturers are having a hard time baby sitting these hundred students ..

We went on Emirates Airlines and it was a midnight take off from KLIA .. Damn this college .. So smart in cutting cost by giving us a midnight flight .. From KLIA, we have to transit at Dubai and from Dubai, we fly straight to Paris .. It was a grueling and torturous 6 hours flight, 3 hours transit and another 7 hours flight to reached Paris .. I was already jet-lagged ..

When we finally reached Paris, no rest at all .. Straight we hopped on a bus that took us to the train station to catch a TGV to Toulouse which is situated at south of France .. Was another 4 hours journey I think, couldn't remember already ..

When we reached Toulouse at 10 something at night France local time, we were all exhausted from the long trip .. The lecturers want to torture us even more by asking us to walk with our big huge luggage in tow to the Hotel Formule 1 that we stayed for a night before our trip to Foix the next morning .. It was a hell of a exercise for me as we walked about 3 km from the train station to the hotel ..

The next morning, woke up early and preparing for our bus trip to Foix where our campus is located .. Another 2 hours journey .. Sigh

This is where we stayed in Foix .. It is indeed a very small town somewhere down south in France .. Hardly see people on the streets .. We stayed for 3 nights at these cute looking little cabins .. It was a disastrous first night at the cabin .. 3 of the 4 heaters in the cabin wasn't working and it was freezing cold .. I had to sleep with my thick long socks on and a very thick blanket .. Still I felt the cold ..

After our stop at Foix, on our way back to Toulouse, we stopped by at the famous Andorra .. It is a place in between France and Spain .. It was snowing like nobody's business .. All the cars on the way up stopped at the roadside to do what?? Wear "clothes" on their tyres .. Well, it is a sort of chain that is wrapped around the tyre to enforce better grip when on a slippery surface .. Cool huh .. First time I see such things .. Too bad no pictures to show you guys ..

When we reached the peak, my oh my, the wind was blowing like .. I don't know how to describe it .. Snow were everywhere .. Its like you're in the middle of a snow storm ..

I found this unique vending machine .. So unique that it caught my attention straight away .. A DUREX CONDOM vending machine .. Cool huh ..

With all the cold, I went to grab some food to heat up my body .. Found this small cool restaurant .. Ordered lamb ribs and there's more .. Red wine .. Yummy ..
